Kandisa

An old prayer, in a language that is now extinct, and yet Indian Ocean finds a way to convert it into something that will capture your mind and heart at the same time. Indian Ocean, watched a documentary on these guys, the house in Mumbai, their struggles, the sidden and tragic death of the lead vocalist, a founding member who was perhaps the best guitarist in India but dropped out of the band (sad that he died too in an accident some time after the documentary was shot), and much more. Oh how I wish we could honor these fellas for their work and their contribution to music. If it means anything, to each one of you, you are legends, no doubt Rolling Stones India put Maa Rewa and Kandisa in the list of '25 Greatest Indian Rock Songs of the last 25 Years' ... but I firmly believe that your work can make it to the top 3 of the GOAT Indian Rock Bands/Songs... no matter who makes that list. Love you guys, you deserved so much more, but thanks to lack of awareness in India, stupid music grew and legends like you had to step aside so that cheap item numbers could be heard out loud. From me and my kind, THANK YOU GUYS, THANKS A LOT!!

The lead singer of this band, Rahul ram, is, along with other band members, highly educated and an IIT alumni. He did Ph.D. from Cornell University USA. Along with numerous scholarships. My respect to everybody in this band. They are amazing. Had a chance to meet them when they visited MICA, Ahmedabad. 2013.
