This is so crazy...There are no people anywhere. Not all is abandoned, there are shops, cars, but not a single soul is walking

That is such a shame. I am 70 yrs old and my grandmother lived in Bastrop until she died in 1982. I have such fond memories of spending my summers with her. Walking around downtown and shopping with her. We would get to go swimming with friends at the County Club. It was back when things were safe and simple. I treasure those memories.

I deliver for Amazon in rural SW Louisiana and I drive through towns like this all the time. There's invariably a boarded up mill or factory in town that explains what probably happened. There are a lot of dying towns.

When a town loses the industry it relies on, that’s the time it’s critical to have smart town leadership that can attract a replacement industry.
It’s a shame to build up a community over decades then have citizens with no choice but to abandon it to survive.
